Congratulations to elected NDC women Parliamentary candidates for the 2012 elections
The Partners of the "We Know Politics Project": WiLDAF Ghana, FIDA Ghana, Gender Centre and The Hunger Project – Ghana extend their outermost congratulations to all women who won in the NDC primaries in the "orphaned" Constituencies.Your victory in the just ended Parliamentary primaries was not by chance but through your hard work over the years.
It is therefore anticipated that your victory would give hope to many Ghanaian women who have the ambition to contest any executive position, Parliamentary and Presidential primaries on the ticket of other political parties. It will also give assurance to those who are nurturing the aspiration to contest the second phase of your party's primaries in 2012 to come out in their numbers.
We are also very positive that you will not end at the primaries but will work hard to win the parliamentary elections come December 7th, 2012. Your numbers in parliament and the quality of your contribution to achieving the 30% threshold of the Millennium Development Goals, (MDG 3) the Commonwealth Plan of Action on Gender Equality and other international policy demands on Ghana will be justified if you join other women to win in your various Constituencies. We believe you not be complacent but will work hard to reach even greater heights and serve as exemplary not only to Ghanaian women but women across Africa and the whole world.
We also congratulate all women who stood but lost for being courageous to contest the primaries. You will surely have your place in the Parliament or even hold higher stewardship in years to come.
We use this opportunity to call on other political parties to have confidence in their women and vote massively for them when they present themselves as candidates for parliamentary and presidential primaries or executive positions.
