The 61 years old traditional priestess and trader in the Gbefi Tonue community in the Kpando District, Elizabeth Abodoh is concern about the rate of unstable marriages, teenage pregnancies and lack of improved livelihood in her community.

She laments that Key assets, such as cash and land, are still largely controlled by the men. She however sees social justice and poverty alleviation as matters of gender inequality. That need urgent attention.

Through her difficult marriage and the eventual success in single-handedly catering for her five children, the 61 year woman has become more responsible and very reliable in her community. It is therefore not surprising that she is now a marriage counsellor in her community.

Although Madam Elizabeth Abodoh contested the recent District Assembly elections and lost, she is still grateful to WiLDAF for the empowering training given to the women of her community. She believes that when women are empowered, they stand the chance of providing better opportunities for their children and families.
