Injury in not a Limitation

Regina Kwakye, a 58 year old Headmistress of Brakwa Presby School likens her new position of Assembly member for the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa district to the biblical story of Joseph who was elevated from the prison to Prime Minister of Egypt in spite of the obstacles he faced.

Regina had little hope of winning the just ended district assemblies elections because she became incapacitated after an accident.

Regina entered the race with the notion that becoming an assembly woman was about having the passion and desire to serve the community devoid of partisan influence. This view according to her was soon proved otherwise. According to her, the just ended election had some candidates being backed by some political parties. As if the political influence and financial challenges were not enough, she got injured a few weeks to the elections. This incapacitated her from campaigning.

Fortunately for her, her 29 years of service in the teaching field within the district coupled with her leadership position in her church paid off. Her sociable nature ad involvement in the community’s general development contributed to her win.

Interestingly, Regina did not participate in any of WiLDAF´s workshop prior to the elections, though she benefited from the post-elections trainings equipping her to better discharge her responsibilities.
