WiLDAF advocates for positive change at the local, national and international levels, and maintains an institutional presence at major national and international human rights mechanisms. We monitor, advocate, and make presentations on behalf of our network members on issues of concern to women in Ghana and Africa. In particular, WiLDAF seeks to ensure the full implementation of both domestic and international treaties which protect the rights of women and girls.
The advocacy campaigns of WiLDAF Ghana and our various partners were instrumental locally in both the African Women's Protocol & the African Women's Decade. At the national level, WilDAF was instrumental in the passing of the Property Rights of Spouses Bill as well as the Affirmative Action Policy for a quota system. Internationally, WiLDAF Ghana participates in the in depth CEDAW shadow report, in 16 Days of Activism in International Women's Day, Commonwealth Day as well as he Universal Periodic Review. the 2007 enactment of Ghana’s Domestic Violence Act and the inclusion of a provision on cohabitation in the Property Rights of Spouses Bill.
