Domestic Violence Act 2007, ACT 732
Simplified Version
The DV Act of 2007 has been hailed as a landmark in the promotion of human rights in Ghana. The act is intended to protect all, especially women against domestic violence and punish offenders of this terrible crime that has caused so much suffering and pain to victims. Under the DV Act, victims who are mostly women can be granted protection orders to shrine them from harmful actions and behaviour of offenders.
It is in this vein that WiLDAF, has carried out relentless crusade on violence against women, has embarked on the simplification of the act. The main objective of the exercise is to present the DVA in a simple language, with illustrations, to make it reader friendly. It is hoped that the public will find this handbook useful and reap the full benefit of the DV Act.
